Teaching Assistant for Master in Audiovisual Translation

Reports to: Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research Closing date: Open until filled   Job Description/Summary: This post offers an excellent, full or part-time opportunity for a specialist in Audiovisual Translation within the broad development of the Translation & Interpreting Institute. The successful candidate will have extensive, on-going professional experience as an audiovisual translator (subtitling, dubbing, voice-over, etc.) and will be committed to delivering high quality teaching in their area of expertise.   Responsibilities: Undertake a range of teaching and assessment activities of language specific translation classes for the MA programs in Translation Studies; to be able to deliver practical training in Audiovisual Translation, and to facilitate student learning in real and virtual environments, applying a range of methodologies for teaching and assessment, as instructed by the Program Coordinator. Provide regular feedback in language specific classes on non-assessed translation tasks Set and mark assessment tasks. Supervise and mark MA student dissertations and projects where these involve practical translation into or out of Arabic/English, French or other specified languages. Research Specialist

Reports to: Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research Closing date: Open until filled   Job Description/Summary: The Research Specialist provides support to the Director and leaders of individual research projects, sets up and builds the projects for the Research Center, and also coordinates the logistical aspects of the Research Center’s work.   Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Post Graduate Studies & Research Department in producing reports on individual projects and the overall activities of the Research Center and in producing an annual budget for the Research Center. Receive and organize annual postdoctoral applications. dentify external fellowships and assist with the preparation of funding applications. Registrar for Postgraduate Studies

Reports to: Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research Closing date: Open until filled   Job Description/Summary:   The Registrar will provide quality student service in the area of registration, tuition assessment and academic records, and ensure the confidentiality and accuracy of student records. He or she will also demonstrate TII’s commitment to thoughtful treatment of its students, through timeliness and accuracy of the transcription system, and insure good order and an atmosphere conducive to academic activity by producing timely and accurate statistics, grades, certifications and other reports.   Responsibilities:   Conduct preregistration, completion, Registration and Drop/Add. Coordinate the Student Database with the Admissions and Student Services Officer, as well as new student technology initiatives. Record internships, study abroad work, thesis titles, comprehensive examination results and grade changes. Charge (and credit) tuition and associated fees. Assign operator security profiles to Student Records users and monitor the system to prevent unauthorized access to computer records. Produce transcripts, and store & preserve academic records and inactive student folders. Process grades and produce transcripts for non-credit students (while also retaining copies of course descriptions. Prepare, publish, distribute class, and examination schedules. Assign classrooms: all semesters, while also reserving classrooms for special meetings, etc; and monitoring classroom conditions. Plan and direct classroom improvement projects, and administer the Teacher Evaluation System. Plan and coordinate the Schedule of Classes to insure that all curricular needs are met while responding to the preferences of faculty and students.        Knowledge, Expertise & Skills:   Three to five years of experience in the education sector as a Registrar. Experience of registration and admissions at university level. Knowledge of the registration processes, methods, policies, and procedures. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic Proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and students Attention to detail. The Senior Coordinator of the MAAT program is responsible for coordinating all activities relating to the MA and delivers some of its components. He or she is responsible for the selection and testing of potential students and is required to provide guidance and support to students.   As an Assistant Professor, he or she will be responsible of delivering some components of the academic program and ensuring that the MA students receive appropriate training in their chosen specialization.        Responsibilities:   Support the MAAT program in preparing the business plan and annual budget for the Academic Program by providing information specific to the MA, in line with the Institute’s guidelines and the overall objectives of the Institute and Qatar Foundation. He or she will assist graduate students with course registration core and elective courses and coordinate student assistantships. He or she will maintain database of student advising records. As an academic advisor, he or she will handle highly sensitive and confidential documents. He or she will act as a liaison between the Director of Post Graduate Studies & Research, Program Coordinator, Admissions Officer, faculty, and students. As an Assistant Professor, he or she will be responsible for delivering some components of the academic program and ensuring that both MA and PhD students receive appropriate training in their chosen specialization. Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting Studies

Home to the internationally renowned Centre for Translation and Intercultural Studies, The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures is looking for a lecturer in translation and interpreting studies.  As an active and collegial member of the team, you will participate fully in our wide-ranging activities, as well as initiating your own.   The person You will be building a significant research profile in the field, publishing high-quality outputs and developing applications for external research funding.
