The School of English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on an ERC-2020-ADG-funded research project, ‘‘Textuality and Diversity: A Literary History of Europe and its Global Connections,1529-1683’ (Action number: 101021262), led by Professor Warren Boutcher (PI). The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work under the supervision of Professor Boutcher. The purpose of the project is to produce an interdisciplinary, multi-collaborator literary history of Europe and its global connections for the period between the early sixteenth and later seventeenth centuries, to be published by Oxford University Press. The job’s purpose is to finalise a peer-reviewed research output (a chapter of max. 10000 words) by 31 August 2026 and to support research and editorial activities for the project ‘TextDiveGlobal’. The project is principally looking for someone with (a) a suitable topic of research in an area of need for one of four sections in the OUP output (‘Works’, ‘Forms’, ‘Spaces’, ‘Events’); (b) advanced editorial skills in academic English; (c) skills necessary to assist in compiling and editing database in liaison with a Digital Humanities support officer (including picture research). As the first Department of Translation in Hong Kong, our programme has a long history of excellence in a variety of fields, including but not limited to translation history, translation and technology, digital humanities, translation theory, and practical translation (especially literary). The Department is also home to the Centre for Translation Technology, which has specialized projects undertaken by Centre members. Faculty members are active in securing research grants concerning various aspects of translation history, theory and practice, increasingly with a digital component. Job Description: The Translation Research and Instruction Program (TRIP) at Binghamton University (SUNY) invites applicants for the position of Lecturer in Translation Studies, who will provide curriculum support to its new Master's degree in Translation. This appointment is full-time and renewable, expected to begin in the Fall semester of 2024. The position requires a regular teaching load of three courses per semester. Applicants should have an M.A. degree in translation studies or a related field, although a Ph.D. degree is preferred. We seek candidates who have teaching experience in higher education and who possess native or near native fluency in English and at least another language, Arabic preferred. The lecturer will be responsible for teaching translation courses that focus on professional translation skills, such as workshops, CAT tools, postediting, and translation project management. The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages in the University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a full-time Associate Professor (or Professor) of German. The successful applicant will also be elected to a Tutorial Fellowship at St Hugh’s College and a Stipendiary Lecturership at St Anne’s College. We intend to appoint a candidate with research interests in modern (post-1770) German, with a preference for expertise in Performance, broadly defined. The focus on Performance for this post highlights an increasing acknowledgement of the centrality in the German tradition of drama, theatre, film, dance, voice, song, performance, and performance literature of all varieties. An ability to deliver high-quality undergraduate teaching (lectures, tutorials, and seminars) in modern German is essential, as is evidence of excellence in postgraduate teaching and supervision.
