Lecturer in Italian Studies

Applications are invited for this fixed-term full time post in the School of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics.

Duties will include teaching Italian language and culture at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and the provision of pastoral and administrative support within the Italian Section and Department of Modern Languages & Cultures. Where relevant (depending on contract type) successful candidates will be expected to conduct and publish research of an international standard in their field of study.

Candidates should have first language or near-first language competence in spoken and written Italian (they should also be thoroughly competent in English).

Candidates should possess a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area and also have completed, or be in the final stages of completing, a doctorate in any area of Italian Studies and should have previous experience of teaching the Italian language and modules on the culture of Italian-speaking countries. Preference may be given to candidates with expertise in Translation Studies.

The Department is looking to appoint candidates to either Teaching and Research or Teaching and Scholarship contracts. Further details are contained within this document as to the responsibilities and requirements for both contracts.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence on 1 September 2018, the post is available until 31st August 2020.
