Senior Lecturer in Linguistics

The Department of Linguistics within the Faculty of Human Sciences at Macquarie University is one of the largest and most diverse linguistics departments in Australia and was ranked in the top 50 in the 2017 QS World University Rankings by subject. In the 2016 ERA quality assurance in research exercise, the Department was assessed as 'above world standard'. It has an extensive PhD program and excellent postgraduate coursework programs in Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, Applied Linguistics, TESOL and Translation & Interpreting, in addition to the highly regarded and increasingly popular undergraduate Bachelor of Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences degree.   The Role Macquarie University is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified academic to a Senior Lecturer (Level C) teaching and research position within the Department of Linguistics. As Senior Lecturer, you will engage in the full range of academic activities including teaching (at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels), actively engaging in a research program and participating in University community engagement activities.   Selection Criteria To be considered for this position applicants must respond to the selection criteria below and upload a response in a separate document during the online application process.   Essential Award of PhD. Demonstrated expertise in Psycholinguistics with a focus on typical and/or atypical language processing. Assistant Professor in Translation Studies

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT (Translation Studies) The Instituto de Literatura y Ciencias del Lenguaje (ILCL) at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Translation Studies. The successful candidate will: Hold a PhD on Translation or a related discipline (e.g. Applied Linguistics with specialization in translation; Translation and Cultural Mediation; Language Sciences with specialization in translation); Show a record of research experience in the field of Translation Studies or its interdisciplines, through publications in peer-reviewed, indexed academic journals (ISI-WoS or Scopus) and participation in scientific conferences; Be able to teach English-Spanish translation; Exclusive dedication to academic activities is required. Associate professor in Spanish with particular focus on specialised language and translation

The School of Communication and Culture offers a broad range of research and degree programmes across a variety of fields: literature(s), information and media studies, linguistics, Scandinavian Studies, Western European languages and cultures as well as the arts and aesthetics. The associate professorship is a permanent position starting on 1 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. We are looking for a dedicated applicant who can focus on Aarhus University’s core activities in the fields of research, education and knowledge sharing. The successful applicant will work at the Spanish section of the School of Communication and Culture and will have the opportunity to participate in one or more of the school’s research programmes. ResearchThe successful applicant will be expected to research in the field of specialised language – in particular specialised translation with the focus on legal translation between Danish and Spanish – and will therefore be expected to be able to document research results in this field. Research qualifications and competences in related areas of linguistics will be an additional advantage. Experience of international partnerships and participation in research collaborations are also important parameters. TeachingThe successful applicant will be responsible for teaching specialised Spanish language and specialised translation between Spanish and Danish, including legal language and translation. Teaching will also be required in related areas such as financial language, Spanish grammar and proficiency in general. Applicants must master Danish at a level which enables them to adopt a contrastive approach to Danish and Spanish. QualificationsApplicants must have experience of teaching and supervision corresponding to the experience gained during an assistant professorship, as well as a PhD or corresponding academic qualifications in specialised translation or another relevant area. Professor in Translation and Interpreting Studies

The Post The Division of Literature and Languages (L&L) wishes to recruit a leading researcher of international standing in the field of Translation and Interpreting Studies to the post of Professor. Language specialty is open, but preference will be given to those working in at least one of the core languages on offer at Stirling: Spanish, French or Mandarin. The University's Strategic Plan 2016-21 sets out our ambitions to grow in terms of postgraduate numbers and research income generation, to increase partnerships and external engagement, and to further develop internationalisation across all our operations. In accordance with that strategic ambition, the appointee will make a significant contribution to our taught programmes, developing international recruitment and forging new international partnerships. Furthermore, the appointee will be expected to pursue an ambitious programme of research, including large funding applications and research outputs to a standard appropriate for consideration under the Research Excellence Framework (REF), to recruit and supervise postgraduate research students in their field of expertise to teach across undergraduate and postgraduate porgrammes, and to assume administrative duties as prescribed by the Head of Division. The successful candidate will evidence the capacity to sustain and enhance the considerable research profile of L&L at Stirling, to lead further development generally, and to pursue opportunities for collaborative activities across the Faculty. The post will: Provide research leadership and strengthen research income generation in key strategic areas of Translation and Interpreting Studies. Provide essential capacity at senior level to support both Divisional needs around mentoring and leadership, and involvement in strategic planning and decision-making at Faculty and University levels. Increase the percentage of REF returns at 3* (or above) and enhance the international reputation and standing of L&L. Both of these aims are consistent with and further the University’s REF strategy. Provide research leadership and increase the capacity for research collaborations – internally and externally, and both with academic and non-academic partners – in key strategic areas of Translation and Interpreting Studies. Provide expertise and leadership in core and popular areas of Translation and Interpreting provision for undergraduate and Masters programmes as well as supervision of PhD candidates. Secure the coherence and enhance the international standing and recruitment appeal of L&L across all areas of activity.   Description of Duties The successful candidate will: Enhance research capacity and provide leadership in the field of Translation and Interpreting Studies. Produce high-quality publications of a world-leading or internationally excellent standard in light of the strategic planning for REF2021. Provide strategic leadership in programme development, student recruitment and curriculum innovation. Contribute to the delivery of the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in L&L. Take on other administrative functions within the Division and the Faculty as prescribed by the Head of Division or Dean of the Faculty. Essential Criteria Qualifications A doctorate in translation and/or interpreting studies or a relevant area. Research An established internationally recognised academic research profile. A strong track record of securing external funding for research and knowledge transfer, relative to benchmarks in our field. Experience of successfully leading research projects and teams. A track record of peer-review publications to levels of world-leading or international excellence and a strong REF profile. A proven ability to develop research links with stakeholders in the UK and overseas. Significant experience of successful postgraduate research supervision and supervision of taught postgraduate and undergraduate research student projects. Experience of research-led teaching. Demonstrably advanced skills in relevant research methods. Leadership & Academic Management Excellent proven leadership skills in academic administrative roles. Strong links with industry or policy or third sector linkages. Teaching Experience of, and commitment to, providing high quality teaching within higher education. Lecturer in Translation Studies - University of Hull

The School of Histories, Languages and Cultures wishes to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Translation Studies with expertise in any area of the field combined with native or near-native competence in at least one of the following five languages: Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The successful applicant will be required to teach at all levels of undergraduate provision, across a range of modules (including the School’s Interdisciplinary modules), and to lead on the MA Translation Studies which forms part of the European Commission's EMT network.
