Instructor/Lecturer in Spanish Translation, Reading, and Communication

Harvard Divinity School seeks to appoint an adjunct instructor/lecturer to teach two courses in Spanish; Advanced Intermediate Spanish for Reading and Translation in Theological and Religious Studies in the fall semester (3rd semester translation) and Spanish Communication Skills for Ministry Studies in the spring semester (2 courses total). The appointment title will depend on the finalist’s qualifications. Also, the instructor/lecturer may be asked to take on administering the Spanish language qualifying exams three times a year (September/January/April) for additional pay; and/or the instructor/lecturer may be invited to teach the Spanish translation course as part of the Summer Language Program from mid-June to early August each year (for additional pay). All these arrangements are subject to availability and negotiation. Class meetings during the academic year are preferably on one or two evenings per week during the semester time. The courses are normally attended by masters and doctoral students of Harvard Divinity School’s masters programs as well as the doctoral Program in Religion. There may also be students from the various member schools of the Boston Theological Institute attending the courses. The courses must be open and accessible to the Divinity School’s diverse and multi-religious student body. The contents of the courses should reflect the diversity and variety of religious studies and theology. The courses are basically reading and translation practice in selected texts in Spanish related to theological and religious studies. Review of Spanish grammar and syntax as they related to the translations at hand are required, as well as some cultural and language background studies for the students are expected. For the course in Communication skills at the advanced intermediate level, a native/near-native command of the target language is expected. Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications: (1) completed advanced degree (PhD or ABD candidates preferred), (2) prior experience teaching at the graduate level, and (3) sensibility to a multi-religious, diverse student body. Teaching Associate in Spanish and Translation Studies

The role holder will be responsible for teaching, supervising, marking and carrying out associated administrative duties on relevant undergraduate and taught programmes in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, predominantly in the area of Spanish and Translation studies. Applicants should hold a PhD (or near completion by the time the post begins), or equivalent qualification, in a relevant field and be a native or near-native speaker of Spanish. Lecturer in Italian Studies

Applications are invited for this fixed-term full time post in the School of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics. Duties will include teaching Italian language and culture at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and the provision of pastoral and administrative support within the Italian Section and Department of Modern Languages & Cultures. Where relevant (depending on contract type) successful candidates will be expected to conduct and publish research of an international standard in their field of study. Candidates should have first language or near-first language competence in spoken and written Italian (they should also be thoroughly competent in English). Candidates should possess a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area and also have completed, or be in the final stages of completing, a doctorate in any area of Italian Studies and should have previous experience of teaching the Italian language and modules on the culture of Italian-speaking countries. Lecturer in Spanish English Translation and Interpreting

The Spanish and Portuguese Department at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track one-year, non-renewable position as a Lecturer in Spanish < > English Translation and Interpreting, effective Fall 2018. We seek a dynamic instructor to teach introductory and advanced courses in translation and interpreting depending on the candidate’s expertise. Teaching load is 3:3. Ability to teach courses in interpreting (community, court or medical), as well experience in teaching translation and interpreting online is a plus. Part-time Lecturer in Translation (with Interpreting)

JOB PURPOSE: To contribute to the teaching and administration/outreach activities in the School of Arts, English and Languages (AEL) and the Centre for Translation and Interpreting. MAJOR DUTIES: Teaching: 1. Design and deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities at undergraduate and post graduate level in translation and/or interpreting within an established programme (including MA in Translation and MA in Interpreting) including lectures, setting/marking coursework and practical. 2. Deliver language specific workshops. 3. Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students. 4. Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback. 5. Supervise practical work where it is part of the course, and advise students on techniques. 6. Plan and develop independent teaching contributions and contribute to the design or revision of course units. 7. Help to develop appropriate teaching approaches and contribute to curriculum development. Research: 1. Engage in scholarly activity e.g. participate in conferences, external funding applied for, book reviews and teaching/professional materials published. 2. Develop networking links with relevant professional bodies to ensure that own teaching reflects current best practice in own area of subject specialism. 3. Maintain and develop teaching and subject expertise. Administration/Contribution to the Community: 1. Contribute to the School’s outreach strategy. 2. Duties and Responsibilities The Centre for Translation Studies (CenTras) forms part of the Centre for Multidisciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry (CMII). Both Centres are also administrative units of UCL's School of European Languages, Culture and Society (SELCS) and are all part of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, one of eleven Faculties at UCL. The Director will provide strong academic, intellectual and strategic leadership to CenTras. They will bring world-leading expertise in translation studies to enhance the work of the Centre in all areas - research, teaching, knowledge transfer and administration. The appointee will have wide-ranging expertise – in both teaching and research – in transculturalism, understood as a process of negotiation taking place in dynamic contacts and networks between and across cultures. Senior Editor - Hayden Ferry Review

Job Description Serves as the Manager of printed publication, web content, and special projects for Hayden's Ferry Review, the graduate student-led literary journal at Arizona State University. Supports student editors in setting and managing editorial schedule and assignments to ensure publication of timely, relevant, and engaging materials consistent with established objectives. Coordinates editorial team in managing submission and publishing processes, fundraising, and outreach. May teach one class per year on topics related to editing and publishing for literary journals and/or small presses, to provide additional professional training for students working on journals and other creative writing publications at Arizona State University. Piper Center for Creative Writing, develops and directs a special translation project: an innovative, ever-growing online archive of creative work previously published in Hayden's Ferry Review and in translation across many languages.
