The Institute of Modern Languages Research is seeking a full-time Early Career Researcher (fixed term for two calendar years) to be responsible for fulfilling the Institute’s national mission to promote and facilitate research and public engagement in the field of Modern Languages (primarily Italian and/or Spanish) with Digital Humanities. The role: The successful candidate will be expected to convene, support and promote interdisciplinary scholarly events related to Modern Languages/Digital Humanities in collaboration with the Institute’s academic staff and administrators; to create and develop new opportunities to promote scholarly work related to Modern Languages/Digital Humanities at IMLR and external venues; and to collaborate on graduate teaching and doctoral research. The Research Group in Computational Linguistics (RGCL) seeks to become an international leader in this area by proposing the next generation of Translation Technology, which has substantial industry-wide applications. By appointing a Senior Lecturer in the area of translation technology, RGCL will be able to strengthen the work it is already carrying out and produce new innovation. You will be expected to produce high quality research, contribute to attracting external income, seek industrial collaborations, teach at Masters level and supervise PhD students.
