Lecturer (Italian), University of Glasgow

The School of Modern Languages and Cultures is seeking to appoint a Lectureship in Italian Studies at the University of Glasgow. Specialisation could include, but need not be limited to, a focus on Italian literary or film studies, language or linguistics, cultural studies, gender and sexuality, text and image, comparative literature and culture, translation, eco-criticism, and digital humanities. Also welcomed are high-quality applications that reflect the School’s ongoing work in relation to ‘cross-College’ collaboration (partnerships with researchers in social and health sciences, and STEM), global challenges, and pathways to Impact. The postholder will undertake research of international excellence and contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes (including language teaching) and to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline. The postholder will undertake administration and service activities in line with the strategic objectives of the School and of the College. This post is full time (35 hrs per week) and open ended. Professor in Audiovisual Translation, Ghent University

The Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at Ghent University offers a Bachelor's degree in Applied Language Studies, and three one-year Master's degrees (Translation, Interpreting, Multilingual Communication),  a two-year European Master in Technology for Translation and Interpreting and three postgraduate programmes (Conference Interpreting, Computer-Assisted Language Mediation, Dutch and Translation). We are seeking to appoint a multilingual assistant professor (tenure track) with specialisation in Audiovisual Translation. The appointment will include academic teaching, academic research, and academic services. The earliest starting date of the position is 1 September 2023. You will be responsible for teaching different modalities of Audiovisual Translation (e.g. inter- and intralingual subtitling, dubbing, audio description, audio subtitling, voiceover, re-speaking, live subtitling) to native Dutch-speaking students as well as international students. As a multilingual expert you are able to translate into Dutch or English and from one or a number of languages taught in our curricula (Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish). Depending on your specific language expertise you will also contribute to foreign language teaching and/or specialized translation courses. Tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in English and Translation Studies, Copenhagen University

The Department of English, Germanic and Romance Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Copenhagen University (UCPH), Denmark, invites applications for a position as either tenure-track assistant professor or associate professor in English and Translation Studies to be filled by 1 August 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Department of English, Germanic and Romance Studies is home to approx. 40 research staff members, 15 PhD students, 10 postdocs and 30 part time lecturers, 14 administrative staff, and 1200 students. The Department produces research of the highest international standard in language, literature and society related to Western Europe, Australia, the USA, Canada, Latin America and parts of Africa. Recruitment of Postdoctoral Fellow [Department of Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong]

Postdoctoral Fellow - (220003EZ) Description The Department of Translation is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. As the first Department of Translation in Hong Kong, our programme has a long history of excellence in a variety of fields, including but not limited to translation history, translation and technology, digital humanities, translation theory, and practical translation (especially literary). The Department is also home to the Centre for Translation Technology, which has specialized projects undertaken by Centre members. Faculty members are active in securing research grants concerning various aspects of translation history, theory and practice, increasingly with a digital component. Applicants with expertise in the relevant disciplines are encouraged to consult details on the Department's website (http://traserver.tra.cuhk.edu.hk/) relating to ongoing projects and expertise of staff members before applying. Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree obtained within the last five years; (ii) strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching; and (iii) outstanding accomplishments and research potential.  Preference will be given to applicants with a good command of Chinese.  The appointee will be assigned to a mentor and to work under his/her supervision to complete a research project according to the proposal.  Other duties include teaching at the Department’s undergraduate programmes and participating in departmental activities. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing August 2023, renewable subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should submit a proposal (two to four pages) of the research to be carried out in the online application. We seek to appoint a Lecturer A in Spanish to consolidate our teaching of Spanish as part of our Modern Languages programme, to take part in our research environment in relevant areas across the school and to add to our research productivity, and to develop and contribute to our impact and public engagement activities. A particular interest in Peninsular Spanish (sociolinguistics, translation, or culture and society) would be an advantage. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and innovative subject team, with strong teaching and research specialisms in related areas such as sociolinguistics, translation and interpreting studies, transnationalism, comparative literature and mobility.
