17-19th May 2018, Vienna

Following the great success of our workshop on the “Imaginaries of Translation”, which took place at the University of Sorbonne-Nouvelle on the 3rd and 4th of March 2017, we now wish to extend our reflections on the theory and practice of translation and to encourage innovative and comparative perspectives.

The Cambridge Conversations in Translation group at the University of Cambridge has been holding two annual series of talks and workshops on various aspects of translation (e.g. Translation and Censorship, Translation and Philosophy, Translation and the Periphery, Translation and the Sacred Text, etc.). Speakers have included many distinguished figures such as poet, theologian and translator Rowan Williams, award-winning translator Anthea Bell and philosopher Timothy Crane, among many others. The audio recordings of most sessions are now freely available on the group's media page.
