Following successful conferences in Seoul (2004), Cape Town (2006), Melbourne (2009), Belfast (2012), Belo Horizonte (2015), Hong Kong (2018), Barcelona (2021), and most memorably in Oman (2025), IATIS is delighted to announce that the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, will host the 9th IATIS International Conference from 7 to 10 December 2027. The 2025 gathering at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman was a remarkable testament to genuine hospitality: the venue offered an atmosphere of extreme warmth and generosity, where scholars and attendees from diverse cultures came together and exchanged ideas with seamless ease. That spirit of intercultural encounter and mutual welcome now paves the way for our next conference theme in Christchurch: Interculturality and Hospitality in Times of Crisis.
