Journal of Chinese Film Studies published by De Gruyter is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that focuses on all aspects of Chinese films.


Twelve articles of the inaugural issue written by Paul Clark, David Desser, Ding Yaping and Wang Haizhou and other researchers have been published online and the print version will come out in May 2021. The articles can be accessed online for free here.

 

Live Event - Via Zoom online

 In this webinar, we will outline the contextual parameters of community translation as a language service empowering minority or minoritized language groups. We will then discuss arrangements and strategies to ensure quality and impactful translations for target communities.

The focus will be mainly on community translators, but quality assurance will also be discussed in relation to other stakeholders.

Presenter's bionote:

Mustapha Taibi is an Associate Professor in Interpreting and Translation at Western Sydney University. He is also the leader of the International Community Translation Research Group and Editor of Translation & Interpreting: The International Journal of Translation and Interpreting Research. His teaching and research focus on community interpreting and translation. His most recent publications are Community Translation, co-authored with Uldis Ozolins (2016, Bloomsbury), New Insights into Arabic Translation and Interpreting (2016, Multilingual Matters), Translating for the Community (2018, Multilingual Matters), Multicultural Health Translation, Interpreting and Communication (2019, Routledge, co-edited with Christine Ji & Ineke Crezee), and Translating Cultures (2021, Routledge, co-authored with David Katan).

The Łódź-ZHAW Duo Colloquium on Translation and Meaning is a successor to the
internationally acclaimed event with the same concept, organised in Maastricht and Łódź
from 1990 to 2015. The theme of the Duo Colloquium 2020/2021 is Contextuality in
Translation and Interpreting. The Łódź session of the Faculty of Philology of the University
of Łódź held online from 3-5 December 2020 focused on theoretical aspects
(http://www.duo.uni.lodz.pl). The ZHAW session will be hosted by the Institute of Translation
and Interpreting from 2-4 September 2021 in Winterthur and approaches applied aspects of
the theme (www.zhaw.ch/iued/duo).
