Membership policy: IATIS differential membership fees
In recognition of the uneven distribution of wealth and financial constraints in different areas of the world, and in response to requests to address this issue made by IATIS membership during the General Assembly held in Seoul in August 2004, the Membership Committee has devised a scheme consisting of four membership fee bands, based on GDP data (last updated at the start of 2012).
Click here to access an alphabetical list of countries classified into the four membership bands.
Individual membership
IATIS members from Band 1 countries pay full fees, whereas members living in Band 2 , Band 3 , and Band 4 countries are entitled to discounted fees. Students are also entitled to discounts. The membership fees are as follows:
| BAND | NON-STUDENT | STUDENT |
| Band 1 |
£38 (with optional sponsorship contribution) £35 (without optional sponsorship contribution) |
£17.50 |
| Band 2 | £24 | £10.50 |
| Band 3 | £17.50 | £7 |
| Band 4 | £7 | £7 |
Group membership
For institutions (universities, associations, professional groups, etc.) wishing to join IATIS as a group of 5 to 20 individuals, the normal membership fee will be reduced by 50% for each member within the group. As with individual membership, the discount is calculated on the basis of the country where the institution is located. Extra discounts are available to groups of 21 to 40 individuals.
Sponsoring IATIS members
IATIS is committed to supporting scholars in areas of the world with restricted access to resources and facilities. It asks Band 1 members to contribute an optional £3 to a sponsorship fund when they register or renew their membership. It also encourages its members to consider sponsoring colleagues from Band 4 countries in particular.
To sponsor a new member:
- use the online registration system to fill in the details of the new member you wish to sponsor and your own credit card details.
- Although the member you are sponsoring may reside in a Band 4 or Band 3 country, you may still wish to sponsor them at the Band 1 full rate. If you do so, they would receive a hard copy of the IATIS Yearbook in addition to electronic access to a pdf version. All other membership benefits remain the same for all bands.
