This panel aims to discuss translation competence from an empirical-experimental perspective. It builds on work carried out within the framework of a joint collaboration between the PACTE (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain) and CORDIALL (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil) research groups. This collaborative work is sponsored by the Spanish and Brazilian Ministries of Education and focuses on the empirical-experimental investigation of the product/process interface in translation, and on the incorporation of new technologies in research procedures. PACTE and CORDIALL share common research interests as far as their objectives and methodologies are concerned, and their research draws extensively on the triangulation of product/process data.
