Elena Di Giovanni is senior lecturer in translation at the Department of Linguistic and Literary Research of the University of Macerata. She has been teaching for several years at the Advanced School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators of the University of Bologna at Forlė and is still doing research on screen translation at that institution. She holds a PhD in English language and translation, for which she worked on the representation of cultural otherness in Disney films. Her research areas include media translation (both dubbing and subtitling), translation for children and the role of language and translation in intercultural communication.
She is currently engaged in research on the translation of animation for children as well as intercultural communication through the media. She also works as a professional translator for the media and publishing industry.
