Expertise required: The School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures is offering 6 Graduate Teaching Fellowships and 7 PhD fee bursaries for PhD students starting in September 2008.

Applicants wishing to do PhDs in translation, interpreting or intercultural studies are eligible to apply for the fee bursaries and for Graduate Teaching Fellowships in German, Arabic, Spanish, Film Studies or Greek (0.5). Please note that applicants for the Graduate Teaching Fellowships MUST have relevant teaching experience.

Applications are invited for the post of Post-Doctoral Research Assistants/ Associates (0.8 FTE), beginning on 1 June or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of three years. The AHRC-funded project, ‘Spanish and Spanish American Theatres in Translation: A Virtual Environment for Research and Practice', will create a virtual research environment for translation and performance of Spanish-language theatre, that will be fit for use by theatre professionals and academic investigators.

The PDRAs must have completed, or will have completed by 1 October, a doctorate in a relevant area. Excellent organisational, writing and editing skills (in both English and Spanish) are essential, given the wide range of materials to be sourced, documented and evaluated. An awareness of the application of digital research methods to humanities scholarship and the ability to work productively within a research team will be distinct advantages.
