Following the great success of three previous conferences, the 4th Cross-Strait Translation Forum is going to be held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It aims to bring together distinguished scholars and professors from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, and Macau to exchange ideas on the topical issues in the field of Translation Education. Presentations will be categorized under several topics: Translation Teaching, Translation Research (Theory and Practice), Computer-aided Translation and Terminology, Interpreting and Training, etc.
An “Exhibition of Translation Books and Software” will be held together with the forum, thus allowing students, teachers, scholars and professionals to acquire the most up-to-date translation materials.

Event theme(s): Child language brokering (CLB) is a widespread practice that is generally performed by the children of immigrant and minority groups and that takes place in all those domains that pertain to these families’ social and daily life. Even though immigrants can resort to the services of professional interpreters and mediators, very often, because of the unavailability of such figures or simply because they prefer to do so, they choose to entrust their children with this task. Despite being a very common practice, CLB is very often an unseen and unacknowledged form of linguistic and cultural mediation. The present Study Day will aim to provide an overview of research in this field by comparing data and experiences gained by researchers on child language brokering activities in different countries. Furthermore, it will also present this phenomenon from the point of view of the representatives of various public institutions as well as former language brokers who acted as interpreters for their families in their young age.

Du point de vue de l'écriture, la fonction érotique vise à éveiller la sensualité du corps lisant. Le traducteur, entre lecture et écriture, est donc appelé à relever les spécificités du récit où sont mis en scène des corps dans toutes leurs représentations, le désir sexuel, le fantasme, la jouissance et la volupté sensuelle. Mais ces spécificités sont-elles commensurables entre les langues-cultures? Pour le dire autrement, le frisson passe-t-il par les mêmes stimuli? Et comment le faire passer? À quoi tiennent les différences du récit érotique dans l'espace littéraire anglophone et francophone et comment influent-elles sur les stratégies et les possibilités de traduction?
