Event theme(s): Translation World is a new international conference dedicated to the art and science of translation and interpretation and the technologies behind them. For the first time there is an event that will bring together buyers and purveyors of translation and interpretation tools and services, managers of government agencies dealing with translation, as well as educators in the translation field. This conference will provide an opportunity for these professionals to meet face to face to look at new developments, discuss best practices and review new technologies. Translation World is a collaboration of AILIA, The Localization Institute and Multilingual Computing.

Description: The inaugural Translation World conference will bring together buyers and purveyors of translation and
interpretation tools and services, managers of government agencies dealing with translation and educators
in the translation field. The conference will provide an opportunity for these professionals to meet face to
face to look at new developments, discuss best practices and review new technologies.

While the conference organizers will consider all papers related to translation and interpretation, the following topics are of particular interest:
 Meeting translation demands in new media
 Determining an acceptable balance between speed and quality
 Managing translation projects for large institutional buyers
 New technologies for translation management and interpretation
 Best practices for managing translation projects
 Best practices for managing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation projects
 Developing long-term relationships between vendors and clients
 Quality Assurance in translation and interpretation projects
 Terminology management
 Growing a translation and interpretation company
 Selecting a translation and interpretation vendor
 Governments’ role in supporting a multilingual society
 Best practices in providing access to official information and documents in countries with multiple
language groups
 Translation needs in different verticals (sectors)
Case studies and best practices examples are encouraged. Presentation of commercial solutions must rely
on experience shared by the users of the solution presented.
