The Department of Humanities of Imperial College London has offered one-day courses in a variety of translation technologies and related areas since 2003. The courses, which range from terminology management to translation memory systems such as Wordfast, are aimed at translators and other language professionals.
Description:
All courses are taught by knowledgeable trainers, who are also involved in our Masters in Scientific, Technical and Medical Translation with Translation Technology (MSc Trans), and whose expertise in each specific area guarantees the quality, content and delivery of each course.
This year, amongst already established courses such as Searching the Invisible Web and Terminology Management, we have launched new courses in Free and Open-Source Software for Translators and Designing Your Own Web Pages in a proactive effort to respond to and meet with the expectations and interests of professional translators and other language professionals.
A new series of five courses, scheduled to run from the end of May to mid-July 2008, has been launched and these are advertised below. Saturday, 31st May - Beginners' Wordfast
Saturday, 21st June - Designing Your Own Web Pages
Saturday, 28th June - Where Search Engines Fear to Tread: Searching the Invisible Web
Saturday, 5th July - Beginners' Déjà Vu X
Saturday, 12th July - Computer Skills for Translators
